Limitations of current techniques in clinical antimicrobial resistance diagnosis: examples and future prospects

Antimicrobial resistance poses a global health threat, limiting clinical intervention and mortality rates. Effective stewardship relies on rapid, accurate diagnostics to minimize antibiotic use. Existing techniques for detecting antimicrobial resistance are discussed, along with emerging technologies and the need for standardization for swift clinical adoption. This paper explores the limitations and drawbacks of these methods.
